Re: Bingley Hall. Staffs. 30th Jan 2011
It did look like it was a good day out for everyone.
Having spent all day Friday trying to get her started, and finding an oil leak from the pressure gauge last thing, I spent Saturday mopping up oil from the dashboard and packing only to find the indicators not working and oil running out of the filter housing. I spent Sunday morning trying to see if I could find the leak, but I'm at a loss. I'm now hoping to be MOTd and ready for Brooklands in two months.
I went in the Peugeot and met Jase at the door who got me into the show, cheers. We had a very nice stand of cars there and it was nice to meet people, although briefly.

Having a new camera meant I went mad (nothing unusual about that say's Jill !) and took over 80 odd photos so just putting a few on for now and a link to my photobucket where you can have a slide show if you wish. If you find the shots too wide on your screen, press ctrl (bottom left) and Minus (top right) and crtl and Plus to revert back to normal size

Some pictures as promised... some of mine replicate Tony's so apologies if there is any repetition.
Steve and Tony discussing the finer points of the hostelry...
Leigh and "Mum" doing much of the same...
Big Al, Jase and Steve not enjoying themselves in slightest... (a pic of me laughing is rarer than a beach car!!!!)
The record for an Elf/Hornet gathering outside of Bromley!
The gathering outside the hotel
The convoy to the show (including Steve's van)
Tony puts in a couple of quid's worth...
Ray and Nick wait patiently
Richard's Elf at one end of our 10 cars...
The rest of the line up...
Part of our little display. Cake by Tricia, Signs by Jase (I do commissions.... )
Alex's Hornet auto...
SJ's Elf Auto... "Katy"
Steve's Heinz 57 "Norman"
Tony's Elf...
Jase's Elf "Rupert"
Nick & Liz's Elf...
The legend that is Big Al's Hornet "JVG"...
Andrew's Elf...
Richard's "Lil' Devil" Elf...
Ray's Elf...
The others on display in the show n shine and Pride of ownership sections....
The other 57 that was there...
Nice blue Elf with later engine and arches...
Very nice metallic recent magazine featured Elf...
Norman and Jean Harper's Film star Hornet....
Couple of extra pics...
Leigh and Alex with their Hornet...
Rupert's award for Best Elf/Hornet (Not showing off I promise you, but thought this pic looks great with the new banner behind)
Nick and Liz's immaculate engine bay...
and finally....
Big Al with a bare behind......!!!
Sorry! That should read a BEAR behind!!

Re: Bingley Hall. Staffs. 30th Jan 2011
Fantastic pictures guys. And a fantastic weekend (except for my blood pressure on the way back).
I'd like to echo my thanks to Jase, Trish and Tony for all the organising, stand, hotel, cake, dinner etc. Thanks to all the members for their company during the evening and the day helping to keep Marc entertained with the help of a balloon. Great to meet some other members in person too.
And my own personal thanks to Alex for not only adjusting my points but showing me what to do so I might even be able to do it myself if I'm in a similar fix. And Steve, what can I say, the offer to let me drive Norman home so you could trailer Katy if necessary... well that goes above and beyond.
What a great club and a great first event of our 50th year!!!
And, Al - we wouldn't be here without you

am just glad we can all meet up now and then and have some fun.
Tony and Jase did all the hard work - not forgetting the super Trish of course - i only supervised !
glad everyone had fun and we'll do it all again at Brooklands (10k runs permitting - feign injury me suggests ) without the (slightly) drunken night before!

What a great display of awesome cars! You make us overseas folks very jealous of having events like this to attend. You are all to be congratulated in making the trip in Winter to have such a great showing in this anniversary year. Wish I could have been there!
Thanks for the great pictures! I might just be inspired to get out in the garage and get busy when it gets just a tad warmer!

It was great meeting you all from up close. I really enjoyed the Fair, met a lot great people, saw fantastic Minis and Elf/Hornets and bought quite a few rare NOS parts for my Beach car restoration. I also became a member of the Elf/Hornet register. Great stuff.

Looks like you all had a great weekend. I have to say that we loved the register stand, the cars were beautiful. We spent a lot of time admiring, you should all be very proud of your work. Hopefully we can join you at a show over the summer now

I am not sure if I've mentioned on the forum before that I have formed a liason "sister" link with NEMO (New England Mini Owners club) with my local mini club (www.miniaddicts.co.uk)? Nemo and many other English Classic car clubs in the USA have a monthly mag called "British Marques" This mag is purely a mag, run for the clubs themselves and they all contribute articles.
I also contribute on behalf of miniaddicts and offered a report on the Bingley Show for this month.
This covered 3/4 of NEMO's page!
E/H Reg members can read it on the following link to NEMO website. You can see more of the photos that were used in the magazine if you click on Gallery at the top. Enjoy your American fame Jase !

Glad you like it. If I make it to Brooklands I'll bring it along with your S/belts (in the Elf boot) I have to put my own cylinder head back on asap and hope the grand daughter is not being christened that day! (She's too damned heavy for the Vicar to hold !)

Tony,
I have been meaning to comment that I saw your NEMO articles in "The Marque" mag. Our local Club CVBMC (Catawba Valley British Motor Club) also regularly publishes in the same mag. You are doing a good job of keeping the word out and NEMO is passing it on.
Jim

Mini Mag report on Bingley Show
Mini mag dropped through the door this morning with their report on the Bingley hall show.
I'm afraid the only mention of Elf and Hornet was a pic of mine and Steves 57
There is only one shot of the Pickups behind our stand. I'm not sure the Mini Mag are aware that we are celebrating The 50th of our little marvels, or the pickups and Coopers!

Bingley Hall Mini Day - Jan 29th 2012
Bingley Hall. - Is fast approaching again, so just putting some feelers out, and I will chase Dave Hollis again tomorrow to try and find out how many cars we can take this year.
Elfgirl and I will be booking the Premier Inn Stafford Road, Shropshire, Newport TF10 9BY
http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/NEWBEE/newport/telford
Alex and Leigh will also be staying at the same place
So if anyone wants to join us for the night before, you will need to get yourselves booked in as soon as possible.
For those coming a long way maybe a good idea to stay overnight as we will need to be in place on the stand at stupid o'clock in the morning no doubt.
When we arrive for Health and Safety reg reasons we can only have 1/4 tank of fuel in each car, and Batteries must be disconnected.
I think thats it for now, if anyone wants to contact me with any problems/queries then pm me on this forum, or facebook me (Jason Christopher)

Jill and I are strong contenders if we have club stand.
As soon as we have confirmation I'll book the Premier Inn.
Members should make sure they book for Saturday night 28th (not the day of the Show. 29th)!
