Bingley Hall, British Mini Fair - Jan 29th 2012
Decided to start a new thread for Bingley Hall.
- It is fast approaching again, (is it really nearly a year????) so just putting some feelers out, and I will chase Dave Hollis again tomorrow to try and find out how many cars we can take this year.
Elfgirl and I will be booking the Premier Inn Stafford Road, Shropshire, Newport TF10 9BY For the saturday night, taking the long schlep up on Saturday morning.
http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/NEWBEE/newport/telford
Alex and Leigh will also be staying at the same place
So if anyone wants to join us for the night before, you will need to get yourselves booked in as soon as possible.
For those coming a long way maybe a good idea to stay overnight as we will need to be in place on the stand at stupid o'clock in the morning no doubt.
When we arrive for Health and Safety reg reasons we can only have 1/4 tank of fuel in each car, and Batteries must be disconnected.
I think thats it for now, if anyone wants to contact me with any problems/queries then pm me on this forum, or facebook me (Jason Christopher)

Well Dave Hollis and Bloody Mini Club (Sorry, British Mini Club) - (my opinion, not that of the Register) have surpassed themselves this year and said all club stands are limited to 3 cars!! Yes, 3 cars!!!! and 6 passes
Alternatively, we can take as many cars as we like and park in the public car park!!!
So when I get up there and rant for England when I see that every club stand has more than 3 cars - like they usually do - I wonder what they'll say?????
Anyway, I have a cunning plan - watch this space!

I've come across there 3 car per stand before, daft. The shame of it is that half of the back hall will be full of autojumble spilling into everyone's club stands again I'm sure.

Re: Bingley Hall, British Mini Fair - Jan 29th 2012
maybe we'll all wait for brooklands then?
mind you, half the fun is the convoy there, dinner and drinkies sat night and the convoy home so who knows!
it might be fun to say sod the indoor club stand and set one up outside in the car park with a gazebo and portable heaters etc?

Elfgirl's cunning plan has worked!!!
Dave Hollis has said we can book a stand for Elf's and a stand for Hornets!
3 cars of each.
So far that means for the Elf's we have:
Tony Haslam
Ray
Humph (awaiting definite confirmation)
And for the Hornets we have
Big Al
Jase & Sarah
Alex and Leigh
Steve is also booked into the Hotel and is taking the Heinz 57. If none of the above 6 drop out, we'll have to devise a cunning way to display 7 cars on a 6 car stand!
(Maybe with the fabric roof we could say it's our gazebo?)

(Although we can always switch codes and come in the Elf - which might actually be the better option as the heater doesn't work in the Hornet!)
Who else wants to jump in for the final 2 elf places, update this thread. Humph - you have first shout for expressing an interest earlier, do you have an Elf or Hornet?
Please only add your name to this list if you will DEFINITELY go as spaces are limited and can be easily filled.
Big Al - I'll leave you to inform Ray. Will have to be first come first served I'm afraid and that's the best I can do.
Jase
Doesn't look as though I'll be anywhere near ready to strip Bert for his respray by the time this comes along, so if you still have a place, and don't mind a my little car with it's orange peel paint job being on the stand I'm in. Let me know, I certainly won't be offended if a better show car turns up to replace him. Oh and Bert is an Elf.

That's his good side Al. The paint is more than passable, and he's a lovely usable tidy car, but the passanger side is a little dull. Will try and get him a decent machine polish before the show.

Re: Bingley Hall, British Mini Fair - Jan 29th 2012
Thanks for the pm. As per my last post in this thread I am definiately going to the show, go every year.
Being as we now have 7 cars, and the Heinz sounds like a much more stand worthy car than our little runabout, I am happy enough to stand aside for this one. I haven't booked any hotels, as we live reasonably close, and Bert will be happy to be left tucked up in his garage.
Will come by the stand and say hi.

Re: Bingley Hall, British Mini Fair - Jan 29th 2012
I had a telephone from Dave Hollis at British Mini Club yesterday asking if we were intending on 'dressing' our cars to the theme of International Mini's....
After I explained that our stand/s would be attractive enough because we 'stand out' from the basic Mini in the first place, hence no need to 'hide their beauty with rubbish'..... he tells me we are up on the balcony, either side of the Fire Exit with 2 on one side and 4 on the other....
So, as it looks like we will have 2 Elf's (Tony and Ray) and 4 Hornets (Al, Alex, Jase and Steve) to display them in exactly that way. We should still be able to set up a nice stand with both banners and signs etc. Wrap up warm though, as that hall/balcony can get a bit chilly! And there is NO CASHPOINT on site!!!!!!!!!!
Al - bring leaflets etc and food!!!!! lol
SJ and I will probably still be already frozen solid though unless I can get the heater fixed before then! lol
Looking forward to it and the craic in the pub the night before!
Tickets are on their way to me.

Does that mean we are first in and last out?
Steve, are you trailering the Heinz 57? (just thinking of the "spare petrol cans")

Re: Bingley Hall, British Mini Fair - Jan 29th 2012
Steve is driving the Heinz 57 up in convoy with us.
Just a reminder to everyone that because we are on the balcony, we will need to be there, ready to get in place by 8.45am at the latest. Manoueverability on the balcony is tight, and we don'y want to be faffing about. The 2 Elf's (Ray and Tony) will go on one side of the fire escape, and the 4 Hornets on the other side.
We will will have a good range of Hornets too - the Heinz 57, my Mk 2, Alex's Automatic and Al's Mk3!
My 'other club' - Mini Foresters, have been refused a stand, but they are still going, minus their Mini's. To demonstrate what an friendly bunch we are, I have taken the liberty of saying they are welcome to join us with their chairs, to give them a 'base' - they will also watch our cars for us if we want to go for a wander. I have said that we could put their 'feather' banner up at the other end of our stand if they want to. Hope that's ok with everyone? If not, let me know. I'm just a bit miffed for them that Dave Hollis and BMC wouldn't give them a stand space because they've never attended as a club before! How ridiculous is that? They are a relatively new club, and how do you ''attend before'' if you're not allowed in in the first place???? Arrrgh! Rant over!
Looking forward to gathering at the pub on Saturday as much as the event itself! And now that Big Al and Ray have got my Hornet heater working, I don't even care if it snows!

Re: Bingley Hall, British Mini Fair - Jan 29th 2012
Been battling as to why my Elf has been stalling on me recently. Checked everything out only to finally taking the tank out and finding the out blocked with sediment! I had several attempts to swill it out late last night and when I poured the dirty petrol into a sieved funnel it wouldn't even let the funnel empty!
Just going out now to check it out in daylight. Wish me luck !
Progess report to follow!
