Couldn't agree less, there's some very poor quality welding all over this shell and why go to all the expense of a full restoration and use cheap pattern panels like those over-sills that will fill with water and rot out again ?

Hey Coco, Toga I had bought this corner roof piece so that I can pursue a patch up job but was advised otherwise, and after a few months of long pondering I decided to cut up the shell instead of restoring it, so the green roof was donated from there. I've gone throught the process in my head and have also had some usefull injection of ideas from other forum members who have attempted this work in the past. I cant weld but I'm quite brave when it comes to cutting and fitting which is where most of the hard graft is, so a friend has offered to come along to help weld it all up after I've fitted it.

I've uncurled the roof gutters for the original roof in preparation for the fitting of the donor roof, It gives me a good 1" lip and a good enough base on which the roof can be mated to.[img][/img][img]
After uncurling the gutters the roof sits very nice and snug so the next step will be shaping the roof to fit completely accurately so that there are no gaps.

The inner roof section is in bad shape, this is the bit in the corner that has a hole in it which holds down the lining bar. [img][/img]
I will cut off this bit from the corner roof piece and replace the rusted one

Thanks Coco you truelly are following this one up closely it's good to know I have support. Today I cut off the old roof and clean things up ready for my friend to come help me weld. I think this and the drivers side sill are the biggest jobs remaining on the bodywork the rest is small patches here and there.

Today I cut the corner sections off both roofs and trial fitted the good one to see if I will require to shape it further to fit snug. I intend on brazing this bit rather that welding only because I can no other reason.

Hey Coco, thanks for your comments, I'm trying to fix the little jobs that I can tackle myself before my friend comes to help me weld up the roof. I'm quite enjoying it, I think I'll attempt the scuttle panel repair, it looks dire to say the least.

Hey guys today I thought I will be repairing the scuttle corner piece but on closer inspection I have to do a small repair on the splash pannel. Here are some pictures.

I have made a template from paper which I will transfer to sheet metal

I'm going to use the old Union Jack roof piece to make up the repair panel.

You're very clever. She's like a jigsaw, or Cher! Hopefully by the time she's finished you won't be able to tell what's original and what's been patched in, just that she looks beautiful.

YES Coco i'll try my best to blend in the repair work as much as possible so it all looks original. The repair in that area is quite hidden anyway.

His name is RJ mate my head is everywhere right now I'm over the moon, we lost our first last year due to complications during birth but it's all ok now.

I cleaned the back of the corner piece and closed the gaps then lead filled and smoothed off to keep looking neat.[img][/img][img][/img][img][/img][img][/img][img][/img]
I then attempted to fix the vent panel and it looks ok
