Re: Winnie Hornet Restoration
Thanks Brooks, I've followed your project and must say yours gave me a lot of encouragement. How is your car doing now?

Shell
A massive tin of POR for the inside, and a little fettle on the outside and that looks like it could be really good! You got a great deal on that one, I wish my shell looked that good when I started.

Re: Winnie Hornet Restoration
Well I wish I got this before I started the welding on the other body. Yes POR is the next step, I'm cleaning all the surface rust then drench it with POR.

Re: Winnie Hornet Restoration
looks like a bit of work still to do, but i'm sure that you'll cope - reckon that rear valance is very saveable too with a few patches welded in as i did with Rusty's
Re: Winnie Hornet Restoration
my rear valance is a moded van one
dad got it in there as mine was pretty shot!
good progress made there!

Re: Winnie Hornet Restoration
Yah cheers guys this shell is in pretty good nick and it will only need some minor work doing to it, I wish I got it before I did the extensive and expensive work on the other body. In the end I will have to sell one of them. The work done on both your cars is very commendable too.

Winnie Restoration
Hi It's been a while since I did any work on Winnie but I've now got to get my act together and the next stage will be installing a roof. Mine is shot and it will have to be a full transplant. I had imagined that I could just chop off a corner off another mini and just patch up the area but I was advised that this will not be a very good Idea, from some good guys in here. So now I will need some moral boosting and advise on the best way to tackle this mamoth task.

Moral Boosting Incoming.
I have just read back through from the very first photo and although it's a long job, I just wanted to say I think it will be very worthwhile in the end.
You can see her beauty peeping through from behind all that rust in the very first picture. I can see why you fell in love with the little whippersnapper! Now the winter is on its way, it's the ideal time to get down and dirty and sort her out.
Go for it. Can't wait to see the photos of the next bit you tackle.
I am not the woman for technical advice, but moral boosting I can do.
GO WINNIE!!!

Winnie Restoration
Thanks Coco for the boost, I'm trying to post pictures but the www.servmig.com is asking for some password, it's never done that before and I've never had any problems posting in the past? does anyone know if there is a different way to post the pictures or is the site encountering some kind of problem?

Don't know
Give it another try, now, maybe, and if it doesn't work you could try uploading them to Flickr or something and posting links?

How interesting!
Is the green roof the replacement roof, and what's the bit of roof with the partial union jack going to be used for?
This is all fascinating! I wouldn't know where to start with something as hardcore as changing the roof, so I will watching this with great interest!
I know posting the photos is a pain for you, but please keep taking them, because I am dying to see how this is done!
