Front subframe back in for now
Im going to run her on 8.5 disk. Might be getting them special deep dish cooper s rims
And ive put the rear subframe back in.Now she should start to come together
Done a little bit of body work.
A bit better so bloody thin though

Re: GIZMO My 67 Hornet
Just lineing up the wings at the moment. Then ill start to chop some of the front out
Re: GIZMO My 67 Hornet
When you're lining up the wings, put the bonnet back on temporarily so you can match the gaps at either side and ensure that the gaps are not too wide!
Cheers

I'll second that. the chump who put the new wings on my van for last owner did not do that and I have 1/2" gaps both sides of bonnet, looks bl**dy awful I may consider replacing them as they wern't treated and are pretty rusty! (and the front panel, looks pretty shot too!)
In time Tony, in time! Get the floor in first!
Yours is looking good BTW

Re: GIZMO My 67 Hornet
Yep thats what im sorting out now.
Ordered some bonnet pins. So i can just pull the bonnet off. Save cutting my head open on the grill each time

Same on my Mini Neon. Actually they're 1/2" at the top and next to nothing at the bottom... Pattern wings being the problem. I had major metalwork issues getting them to line up on my Mini Sky too, but I was smart enough to leave the bonnet untouched until they were in the right place (lots of choice language, grinding and hammering involved!)

Hah! I got into the habit of putting a cushion down and kneeling to my Elf's engine!

On that note of the pattern wings I had to open of the the seams from the headlight aperture to the engine bay to get it to "sit right" on the front panel of the Elf. Opening that did help quite a bit

Front panel wasn't a problem. The top (eg nearest scuttle) edge of the seam with the inner wing was about 1/4" too wide and the part where it joins the scuttle was just the wrong shape. I sorted them out, but the person that fitted them on my Neon clearly didn't as that's where the problems are!

Glass
Don't even try to get any decent second hand glass! You will spend a fortnue buying crappy scrated or etched stuff (Well I did), Minispares sell new door glass for the mk3, just buy a pair!

I'll second that. Old glass is rather brittle.

Primer is porous - it's no good for use as a finish. You'd need to find a matt red oxide topcoat.

Re: GIZMO My 67 Hornet
After spending a few hours on the door turn out it not so good after all. The frame is really week. So im hope there might be a door at Bristol Mini Day
