Re: Brooklands - 29th March 2009
hi guys - sorry not been on here for a bit - busy, busy, busy!
I can now make Brooklands - managed to swwap days off at work yaay! - so our meeting point will be clockwise clacketts lane services on the m25 at 8.45-9am on sunday 29th march. or you may meet us there for about 10am. it's pay on the gate (about a tenner i think) and mention the club stand when you go in and you should be pointed in the right direction! colin is usually there first with his cabrio hornet.
its looking like a good turn out again - not too sure about the weather though - fingers crossed!

Blackwall tunnel opens at 8.00am so should be OK to meet at Clacketts lane. Does anyone know if it usually opens on time? Or do I need to find a plan B now.
Al, do you know anyone that drives the 108? - they should know LOL.

Re: Brooklands - 29th March 2009
we all had a great day at Brooklands - 12 cars on display (8 elfs and 4 hornets) plus a couple in the car park after they closed the gates due to unprecented demand to enter!
discoman should have pics up in a day or two.
thanks to everyone who came and showed their cars, especially those who drove a very long way to be with us.
and, SJ - hope the new carpets are ok

That's it! I'm gonna have to move South! (I wish) I just wish I had been over my opp enough to have come
Some beautiful shots of beautiful cars. You all had a good day and the weather behaved itself (for once!)
It would be nice if we could have some shots of the cars with the owners so we can put a face to the names or is everyone too shy?

The photos are absolutely fantastic Jase, nice one!!
The carpets are great Al - you're a star (as ever) and my feet are much warmer
Tony, that might just be the best picture of car + owner that you'll get !!
It was indeed a great day and good to catch up with members for the first time this year. We're looking forward to L2B!!

Re: Brooklands - 29th March 2009
Good greif - I know and am beginning to understand that it does have to be exactly the "right" shade of paint e.g. damask red RD4 not Rd5 and that you'll all search high high and low to get the best condition and most original part where are cars are concerned- but I didn't realise this level of detail also extended to counting my ** s. It was intended as a general explitative ( as normally of course I wouldn't swear but if you did want to fill in the gaps - we could always be restrained and settle for blinking.
Al, as if I would ever have one too many

Re: Brooklands - 29th March 2009
What a smart bit of filming. It almost made up for me not being there! I thought you had a nice authentic spot don't you agree?
What happened at the end? Nobody waved at the camera!
What was the result of your MOT Jase?

I don't think any of us knew we were being filmed (apart from maybe SJ, as she insisted on modelling her assets! )!
As for "Rupe" and his MOT..... he flew through it!!! Yay Only two advisory points!
So, on with the show season!!!!!
(PS - SJ the garage were so shocked when they opened the bonnet, they thought I'd changed the engine!!! )

Brooklands....etc
TONYELF wrote:Passed MOT. Fantastic!
Yes, thanks Tony! i was relieved!
Advised on getting the rear d/s sill welded before too long, slight play in the front d/s wheel bearing, and dodgy main beam bulb, although worked for the MOT!
Now I can concentrate on doing the things I want to do.... two new doors or door skins, halogen headlight conversion, speedo cable, re-spray (when the compo comes through!!!) and maybe, just maybe.... pop a 1380 engine in to cope with distance driving more comfortably, bigger tank, and some new seats!
Strewth!!!
