You can definately see the extra 1/2" but you should get away with it.
Do you have the same laws in SA that say that the tyres should not protrude out from under the arches ?
Mats look great too !

Re: South African Mk3
I should be ok
From what I can gather, there can be some part of the wheel sticking out, but as long as the tread is covered. I could be wrong, so will check on that.
The mats are so retro I think!

That, or button type poppers. I don't know yet, still have to think about it all.

Some of the suggestions at the moment are O's and X's, race track with Mini models on, a to-do list, useful info from a Hayne's manual and a host of speaker pictures.

Re: South African Mk3
The wheels were all taken apart today and given a good scrub. I started on polishing the outer and inner halves. Still have some work to do.
Pity about the scuffs from the wheel nuts being put in :
Started to rain while I was working as well :
A little ticked off that the rear windscreen leaks . . .
Also, since one of the D1 wheels needed a leak fix, I thought I should fit it up. This was my original idea - D1 wheels with Grp2 narrows :

I think I prefer the D1's on the car.
Could you get that wheel brace damage machined out then repaint the gold anodised finish to another colour ?

The D1's are nice, but don't think they go with the current look of the car. They're one of my favourite wheels.
I've been thinking of getting some work done on the centres. I'm going to keep them gold for now.

Re: South African Mk3
Well, all four wheels are now polished and assembled. I just need to get the bolts torqued up to spec and I'm sorted. I did, however, manage to snap the head off of one bolt - I didn't put it under much strain, so I think it was weak from the beginning (didn't have a problem with any of the other ones) :
On a side note, I just managed to miss a big hailstorm while working on the car today. Oh, and I also stripped the window winder handle, so I need another one of those . . .

Cheers It's one of those things - nothing I can do but replace it.
