Silver would look good. Cool

My cooper has a metalic light 'Cuiras' blue roof, & bonnet stripes and wheel centers of the same colour.   affraid
Its a Ford colour and was just that bit different than the other Coopers with White or Silver roofs ! Shocked

And just a comparison between the two different wheels and how they sit in the arches :

6" wide Minilife wheels front and then rear :

6.5" wide Force wheels front and then rear :

Oh, and I wanted to see what the mats might look like in the car :

cheers
You can definately see the extra 1/2" but you should get away with it.
Do you have the same laws in SA that say that the tyres should not protrude out from under the arches ?

Mats look great too ! Cool

I should be ok silent

From what I can gather, there can be some part of the wheel sticking out, but as long as the tread is covered. I could be wrong, so will check on that.

The mats are so retro I think!

Nothing of importance, just gave her a vacuum and swapped the passenger seat with the other one I had (a lot better condition than the one I had in there) :

Decided to redo the passenger side carpet because I wasn't happy with it. They aren't finished by any means - definitely need some edging and some kind of fixings.

Managed to find myself some NOS lenses for the car, with their original Leyland SA box. Rather pleased with that. Now to find another set.

Came up with something for the parcel shelf. Wanted something different, so I made up a board and painted it in chalkboard paint :

South African Mk3 - Page 16 IMG_20151115_172649_zpsbpuxumbk

Now for some ideas to put on it.

Some of the suggestions at the moment are O's and X's, race track with Mini models on, a to-do list, useful info from a Hayne's manual and a host of speaker pictures. Suspect Laughing confused drunken

Took the tyres off of the Force wheels. I will be taking the centres out to give everything a good clean up.

The wheels were all taken apart today and given a good scrub. I started on polishing the outer and inner halves. Still have some work to do.

South African Mk3 - Page 16 IMG_20151119_160450_zpsybjypcmr

Pity about the scuffs from the wheel nuts being put in :

South African Mk3 - Page 16 IMG_20151119_160527_zpsknqgczid

Started to rain while I was working as well :

South African Mk3 - Page 16 IMG_20151119_160652_zpsrhfejqoq

A little ticked off that the rear windscreen leaks . . .

Also, since one of the D1 wheels needed a leak fix, I thought I should fit it up. This was my original idea - D1 wheels with Grp2 narrows :

I think I prefer the D1's on the car. Neutral

Could you get that wheel brace damage machined out then repaint the gold anodised finish to another colour ? Cool

The D1's are nice, but don't think they go with the current look of the car. They're one of my favourite wheels. afro

I've been thinking of getting some work done on the centres. I'm going to keep them gold for now.

One wheel done - three to go. This is as good as I can get them by hand. I moved the centre around after this pic so that the valve lines up with a blank spoke :

Well, all four wheels are now polished and assembled. I just need to get the bolts torqued up to spec and I'm sorted. I did, however, manage to snap the head off of one bolt - I didn't put it under much strain, so I think it was weak from the beginning (didn't have a problem with any of the other ones) :

South African Mk3 - Page 16 IMG_20151125_154812_zpsa0ntp4cx

On a side note, I just managed to miss a big hailstorm while working on the car today. Oh, and I also stripped the window winder handle, so I need another one of those . . .

This will be the last update on these rims until tyres are attached - promise.

I decided to replace all the allen bolts, rather than just the one snapped one - better safe than sorry :
