we have had it for about 5 years, and it has been in that condition for about the last 15. It is the Southend crazy golf car if that means anything to you, and it is basically the shell only as all the other bits have got lost over time, but we do have a kettle ! Affectionately known as Skippy. Are you in the crayford register ?

Southend golf cart? whats the story behind that? how did you come by skippy?

Skippy has a bit of a sad story along the lines of your Heinz. Probably the most well known 57, he spent most of his daily life parked on the sea front at southend next to the crazy golf course where the lady owner (skippy's second owner) worked. Eventually the sea air got to him and he went for restoration. Unfortunately the guy what started the work was an insult to cowboy restorers and made a bit of a mess and then disappeared half way through the work. Council comes in to take back the workshop and chucks everything in a skip, shell included. Luckily a local chap saw what was going on and knew the car and managed to save the shell, but everything else went. Hence his name skippy. He was then passed onto an enthusiast near Hull who sat on him for several years before he was advertised on ebay which is where we came in. Now sat in a lockup awaiting the welding torch, but I have another four cars to sort out first before I start on what must be the ultimate restoration of a heinz.
Re: 57 heinz hornet
So it will be a happy ending!
I know very little about mine at the moment, all i know is that its been off road for about 25 years, and in that time, its been sitting outside under a sheet, it has at some point been in a building that had a fire, the hood has melted, and its damaged some of the paint on the body, so the rain has got into the metal.
its also had an orange coat of paint at some point, over the white, then another coat of white paint over the orange!
