"starts on the button" Have you noticed how modern cars are now starting on the button or "on the card" or even "on command" ?
Sounds great John Keep it up!

Well, the baby, the DS and other minor projects kept me away from the Beach Car.
I decided to take the car to a Mini specialist and let him finish the 5% that is left to be done.
Basically he will bleed the clutch and brakes, adjust the carb and everything else, and make the car safe to drive away from there.
The car looks very different in the bright sunshine compared to my dark garage. It looks much better. I can't wait to finish it and make a nice photo shoot by the sea.
The void left in my garage is impressive. The Safari is next up on the lift.

Wonderful to see this fine car being brought back from near death! Hope to see it up close soon? Are you going to bring it to IMM?

That's the plan, along with the Olympic Van.
You know what they say about plans, don't you?

Drove the beach Car the first time since I bought it. First time in a magic wand 850 with floor start. The steering felt incredibly light after my semi-slick 1275. I drove it at 55 mph down a highway without a windscreen. I parked it at my garage. There are some overheating issues, but I will sort them out. It felt great!!!!

John,
It's great to know the car is nearly finished and that you've done a fantastic job on it. Perhaps 55mph is a bit fast for your first venture out in it although there would be less wind resistance with no screens. I'm looking forward to seeing it in the flesh at some time, perhaps parked next to my Pre-production Elf. Probably the two oldest cars in the register. Well done once again.

Two years after it was removed, the Beach car is now fitted with a windscreen again. It makes a huge difference on the road, even at modest speeds.
Another thing I noticed today that I drove the car is that I need to watch sharp right turns. There is nothing keeping me on my seat and the painted wicker is hard and quite slippery.
Clockwise Oval Racing with the Beach car should not be attempted!

Stunning. To me, it ranks right up there with the Works cars.
But where are you going to find an Issigonis look-a-like to pose with it?!

Today I took the car to its first ride to a Classic Car meeting in front of an old marble stadium, where the 1896 Olympics were held.
The car was very well received. Most people had never seen one, and kept asking what it was?
The car behaved flawlessly on the way there and back, the weather was incredible and overall it was a jolly good day out.

Took part in Concours d' Elegance today.
Amazing weather, great cars and many friends to talk to.

Took third place in my category. Second was this lovely mk1 Hornet.

Well done John. smashing little car! Lovely photos too!
Tony.
BTW When you came to my home, you showed me the new wicker seats, they felt very stiff and rigid. Are they comfortable on rough road sufaces? !

They are pretty hard. On right turns I really have to hold on to the steering wheel.

Lol! Of course ( or OFF course?)
What about super glue on the seat ?
You could try a sheet of that non slip rubber?

Nice article on the beach car in the Miniworld that's just dropped through my door. Car looks great, a testament to all the hard work you've put in Reymondos.
