Elf and Hornet 50th Rally

The Riley Motor Club is looking to celebrate 50 years of the Elf and Hornet (no problems with the Wolseley name) and has asked me to see if E&H members would be interested in coming along. The UK venue is to be decided but expect the RMC national rally to be held in August. Big Al has connections with the Wolseley Register/Owners Club and will ask the question re a possible joint rally. The RMC council members are in favour of a joint rally with one or several Wolseley clubs and the E&H register.
I know August 2011 is way off but an indication of E&H members general interest and numbers would be useful to shortlist potential suitable venues etc.

Hmmm... gives me an incentive to get Elfie back on the road! (I set myself a similar challenge for Clubman 40 at IMM2009; we did make it but on a trailer!)

It would be great if our cars can bring the Wolseley and Riley marques together at a joint national rally.
I hope to have more news re possible dates in time for the Classic Car Show at the NEC in November.

I would love to do this, but am very likely to be visiting Australia for all of August - I could do July.

We didn't quite get back from Switzerland in one piece, but I'm hoping to be ready again by August.

55 miles from Calais on the way home we found a near invisible mini roundabout and hit another car. Luckily we were both going quite slow, but I need a new wing and front panel. Fortunately I have sourced all the needed parts, just waiting for them now.

Lexy made it all the way there and back under her own power, we just blew up the coil just after arriving on site.

Riley Motor Club National Rally "The Year of the Elf"

Sorry for being away from the Forum scene for a while and not responding to the continued interest in this event.

Well there is some good and not so good news. Firstly the good news, the RMC National Rally is at Tortworth Court Four Pillars Hotel Wotton-under-Edge Gloucestershire GL12 8HH and is being held on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th of August. From previous experience, the best day is the Sunday. Rally entry is £10.00 per car.
Ok the not so good news, I have asked for the rally to be made open to Hornets but have received the thumbs down. I'm not really sure why this is an issue but I have done my best. If any Hornet members still wish to come along in their cars, I may be able to swing things on the day but I can't offer any promises. I'll be there on the Sunday and may be involved in the Elf class judging so get out the polish and chrome cleaner.

For those unfamiliar with the location, Wotton-under-Edge is on the edge of the Cotswolds and although I'm not familiar with the Hotel, the area is ideal for touring, should you wish to make it a weekend break.

I'll keep you posted with any additional developments.
