Coco progress: [Edit] What IS that stuff?!
So, first of all my Membership arrived. How cool is the little 50th Anniversary plaque? But - what has everyone done with it? Have you put it in your Elf? It isn't sticky or magnetic, or self adhesive, so I am curious to know how to display it properly. I'd hate to turn up to a meet with wearing it as a necklace and realise I have made a terrible faux pas!
Second - Coco is still at the mechanics. All her parts arrived on Friday and she has been there ever since. She has to have front and rear ball joints replaced, rear brake shoes, Cv joints, points and plugs, water pump replaced, the radiator has to be rewelded and sealed, and today I found out she needs a new thermostat. She also has a drip near the heater. (Other than that, she's right as ninepence! ;/ ) Still, it will all be worth it!!
I also have a question. Does anyone have a photo they could share of an original Mk III interior door? Coco has mismatching handles etc. on both sides. Functionally, this is not a problem, but it is giving me a case of the Mr Monk's. I'd like to find out which side (if either) is the originally and try to match up from spares for the other.
Anyway. That got long! *grin*.

What the heck are these things?!
We've just spent a happy few hours sanding down demister vent bezels, cleaning tail lights and reassembling them with new gaskets, removing and packing up the dash ready for its trip to Chapman and Cliff. I have learned more about cars in the last month than I ever knew. Great fun.
When we took out the fresh air vents, there are what appear to be two petrified football socks shoved down the tubes. What the heck are they? Are they some sort of filter material, or did someone quite literally lose their rag?
Should I drag them out and see what they are? They look VILE, lol.

Re: Coco progress: [Edit] What IS that stuff?!
Some people find the draught too much through the vents and "slow" these draughts down with objects.
I suspect these socks will be well aired!

Tony
If you're short of socks, I could stick them in the post to you. You might want to check the photos first...
