Brooklands Mini day. Club Stand 27th March 2011

I may not be able to make this one (got to try and persuade a certain someone!)

I believe Big Al is arranging a Club Stand ? Is that correct Al? Seven weeks today

i'd advise everyone to be there early, as i think it will be busy and although we should have reserved parking, it can occasionally be so busy that things don't always go according to plan.

the S.E. contingent are provisionally looking to meet at clacketts lane services at 8am, with a view to being there shortly after 9 and we look forward to seeing the rest of you there.......

slight change of plan - now looks like a 7.30 meet at clacketts (oooh!!!!) and for the first time, brooklands have sent me club stand passes - entry as usual (pay on the gate or advance tickets etc) but the stand pass allows the marshalls to direct you to the stand easily - i can pass 'em out at clacketts for the locals, but others i shall have to meet on the gate - call me when you're nearly there on 07948398476 and i can meet anyone who needs one

Have just spoken to Donna Hopton @ Brooklands in an attempt to pre-book.

1. Unfortunately she can take a minimum of 5 pre-bookings at a time.

2. We are not parked in the paddock (as promised last year) we are outside of the paddock and not in our usual place by the old garage.

3. Space is even tighter this year because of building work and they have lost about 100 spaces (I did say they could compensate for that by banning BMWs....)

4. We do not have a "special 50th anniversary stand" as Donna "wasn't aware of it" - which is annoying because I emailed them back in November (and they acknowledged me) advising them of the very same thing.

5. The elf/hornet stand will be STRICTLY LIMITED to the number of passes that have been allocated to Big Al. Any others coming and trying to tag onto our stand will be directed to park elsewhere

6. If you want to be entered in to the show n shine, you have to complete a form by March 11th. (I explained that last year the judges asked Big Al to nominate the best 3 from each marque and they chose from those as I recall)

So all in all, sounds like a bit of a cock up!

I'm just reassembling my reconditioned cyl head back on in hope of coming down at last minute, I obviously want it running right to attempt the journey down from Chester, Now I'm losing heart
I've counted the above attendees and I'm 7th if Al has "Ray in tow" (thats assuming all are coming!)

The grand daughters christening date still has not been finalised (she's 23 lbs now, the vicar won't be able to hold her for long, we have trouble now!)
She will be 23 years before it happens at this rate !

Maybe she should read their own website which says " There will also be special anniversary displays of Pickups and Elfs & Hornets. "

They updated that after I spoke to them SJ. We are definitely not in the "birthday paddock"

D'oh!

from checking the map they sent me - we are supposedly to be positioned (more or less) in front of the old gift shop, to one side of the coopers and pick-ups in front of the main paddock so, fingers crossed, it'll be ok!

Al. How many passes have you been sent or promised? It is almost certain I'll be there. The Christening is not until 17th April EEK! thats drive it day

i have been sent twenty passes and thus far, four have been sent out, leaving 16 - fingers crossed it'll all work out on the day....

Re Brooklands.........sounds like the left hand needs to meet the right. I will be there in the Heinz 57 premier inn up the road booked!

Cylinder head now back on. Some fine tuning to do then wash and polish. Looking forward to meeting everyone again. See you there!
