Anyone know what it should be on a '68 Elf? My mini manuals aren't much help.

For "Elf" read "Mini" - mechanically they are identical. So 5 degrees static, 8 degrees with a strobe. If it's an original engine it probably has the timing marks under a plate at the clutch housing - usually needs a mirror to strobe the timing marks!
