Chassis number indicates a Mk III built around the beginning of December, 1967.

It should have a 998 engine, but it's also possible it was an automatic - it's quite common to replace a failed auto with a manual engine, and the auto selector would have come through the same hole as the magic wand gearstick. Sometimes the subframe is replaced in such a conversion, but an Elf of that age should have been hydrolastic - is it still, or has it been converted to dry suspension? If it's still hydro, look to see if the engine mounts are spacered, as the auto subframe is wider than the manual.
