Here's one for Elf owners There's a switch on the dash under the speedo. The owner's handbook says dashboard lamp switch. ??? Does it mean instrument light switch? Do the instruments lamps need a separate switch? Or is there another lamp somewhere I don't know about? I've had my Elf for nearly 10 years but never found out what this mystery switch is all about. The one on my Elf has long been taken out but the hole is still there. TIA.

It is the instrument light switch. It was put there to "save" the battery when you had to leave the side lights whilst parking in certain areas.
Most modern cars have same facility combined with a dimming device.
I am doing away with mine to fit a Flasher switch to operate windscreen wash pump Smile

I have stuck a Triumph Dolly/TR6 etc Hazard Warning Light Switch in my dash hole - since we don't normally have to leave sidelights on whilst parked overnight anymore (one did when our 'elfie was a lad), I thought it better to use the hole for a more important safety feature.

Cheers
