Bromley Pageant 2011 and a great car club

My two brothers and nephews and I attended a wet and windy Bromley 2011 today. I did not have Irenie's Elf with me as it has a broken fuel pump. It conked out on a major roundabout two months ago and I managed to coast into B&Q's carpark under the final momentum. Anway, my brothers again said to me today (as they always do) that my club, the E&H register is such a close, friendly and welcoming club compared with the club they are in and others around, (they both have Minis). This is the thing I like most about the E&H register, everyone is nice and helpful, and there always seems to be food and beer and a welcome on the club stand. It's a family. I don't see some of my relations as much as I see you lot. So I'm very chuffed and thankful I have found such a great club. Now I plan to nag my brothers into getting an Elf or Hornet.

As for Irenie's Elf, the plan is... fit a new fuel pump and tuck it up in the garage untill next year. It leaks in many places and I need to see about new door and window rubber, all the while saving for its first new coat in 43 years. I can't wait.

just as we were packing up to leave, Barry from the Crayford club was driving past on his way out and stopped to tell us: "they're looking for you down by the arena - you've won something!"

a quick dash down the field with Trish driving "Kevin" and we eventually found Mick, who, after checking his list, told me we'd won 2nd place in special club displays (after winning 1st last year, this was a surprise!) and gave me a glass trophy and £50 cheque! Hurrah!

I'll echo your thoughts tho - I definitley see some of these guys (probably by choice!!) more than I see some of my relatives.

What a mad a crazy weekend - only 40 minutes from home, yet I decided to camp, even tho the forecast was for rain.

Well, that 40 minute drive took me over 2.5 hours on the way there, although was fine on the way back. Despite the hideous weather and having to come home with a soggy tent it was still a great weekend - why? The company of course ;-). Oh, and the cars I suppose

Really chuffed our club came 2nd. We have a good turn out considering the other big clubs there.

By the way SJ, what's the colour of our car's roofs? I am just filling out Lisa Furness's form. I am thinking Whitehall beige? and I know the body is Damask.

Big Al is now custodian of the anniversary plaques, he should be sending them out.
