My Rare 1972 Princess
Only 3 EVER made in this colour scheme.
Black body with limeflower interior, confirmed as only 3 automatics and 4 manuals made.
Im now the proud owner, only owner number 6.
It needs work (dont they all)
It was on ebay and I won the auction on the 15th May, we collected it on 21st May.
Here is some photos I took when we went to collect it.
Now known as "EARL" and hope to be on the road again in sept 2011

Awesome!! Very much like my Riley Kestrel. But your grill is differrent and the rear seats have the serving trays, etc. I would also love to own a Vanden Plas version.

Re: My Rare 1972 Princess
its NOT a riley.
they keep the badge of the marque.
E.G. MG Vanden Plas has the MG badge in the grill.
austin and morris did not have grill badges

Re: My Rare 1972 Princess
Vanden Plas is the marque in this case. It was only later when it started to be used as trim designation.
Virtually all cars using VDP as a marque were called Princess'. ADO16 probably had the most bewildering array of different badge engineered versions ever They were sold as Austin, Morris, MG, Riley, Wolseley and VDP cars.
Check out http://www.aronline.co.uk/ for model histories and more details.
Hope this helps.

Re: My Rare 1972 Princess
According to the Vanden Plas owners club 1100 and 1300 Vanden Plas where all AUSTIN based.
So its an AUSTIN.
So its an AUSTIN.
Re: My Rare 1972 Princess
you are right with it been Austin based with Austin buying Vanden Plas in 1946 but in 1960 Vanden Plas became a stand alone company like Riley,Wolseley etc

Re: My Rare 1972 Princess
Darn rust! Who ever came up with the idea of making cars out of thin metal?
