How rare are Riley Elf Mk.IIIs with original Automatic transmission ?
Hi from Dublin (Ireland). A good friend has only last week purchased a Riley Elf Mk.III Automatic.
Although now carrying Irish Number Plates, the car was imported from the U.K. circa 2006.
My question is simply does anyone know how many automatic Elfs ( & Hornets) were produced.
It is the first example that has come to my attention in Ireland.
This car, though complete, will require many months of TLC (holes in floor - badly weathered paint - etc.)
I will do my best to persuade him to join the Register and if accepted - to supply regular progress reports
and photos.

There are a few about. With the Elf being more expensive than the Mini, owners seem to have been better able to afford the extra cost of the auto transmission.
Mine is auto, though the original engine & box are long gone. It's on its third engine/box since I've had it, though if I knew then what I know now I wouldn't have had to scrap the excellent engine it came with when the transmission failed - I know of at least two specialists that can repair them, one of which I drive past every day! Having said that, an auto box rebuild costs around £800...

i have an Elf automatic, 68 model, the shell is far too gone to repair, but has yielded a few good bits for the restoration of my wifes 66 mk3.
I have the engine and gearbox sat in the corner of my garage if anyone can make use of it for spares,
