how rusty can you go
for a bit of fun, and inspiration to others, how far have you gone to resurrect your car from the dreaded metal worm. The final shiny car is very nice, but what about the dirty reality, blood sweat and tears that have gone into getting it thus far. Post some piccies of the horrible holes and dodgy metalwork.
To start off, some pics of humphrey and the metal work that went into him, bearing in mind that most of this was done outside, or just under the garage door as it is too full to get a car into work on, including the respray - not fun in the early spring
boot - clicky
front - clicky
floor - clicky - sorry not a lot in this album as I lost most of the pics when the PC crashed
I will have a dig around and see what else I have on the PC that is rusting away

Blimey you got it bad! I was lucky then, my boot must have been done before I got the Elf.A new subframe had been fitted so that was a big job out of the way! Not so lucky with the van though!

didn't think you ever worked martin - just lazed around in that little boat of yours!
Re: how rusty can you go
Just to make you feel a bit better Al, here is a pic of skippy our heinz57 - picture quality is not that good and was taken a few years ago before we purchased him ( which actually makes him look a bit better !!!!!!!!!!!!. Must be one of the ultimate restorations in respect of the amount of metal work required, can't wait to get started, just need to get some other projects out of the way first
Re: how rusty can you go
Don't think I can beat either of those for rust (well not on an Elf anyway!) but I have actually replaced a roof!
Pretty decent job by the time I'd done. Wish I'd kept it!

Blimey! I think you take the prize here mate! You are one brave man for taking that one on! Thanks, you have given me some inspiration to get cracking with Myvanwy the mini van. I have just taken delivery of a full floor and extension panel for her. I wish I had some more room

Re: how rusty can you go
Below is link to British Heritage The mini floor is basically the same for all models (part no U10 +the small strip is the extension to make it longer as the van ,pick up and countryman are just that bit longer wheel base than the saloon )
My mate also has a van ordered 2 and we shared the cost of postage.
In case this does not work I will give you the main link to B/Heritage (it is interesting anyway)

Re: how rusty can you go
This may be the case, but this is all we could get.
Both our floors are completely gone and we worked out that it would be cheaper (and quicker) to buy an all in one piece than to buy the individual panels, weld them all up and then spend hours grinding the welds down. It will be interesting to see your photo anyway.Cheers
Tony
