Re: some pics off my alf
Looks a good project. I thought my Elf was in "good nick" (as we say in the UK) until I started looking for rust!
For my pics check the link below. Sorry they are not in order ! I'm looking forward to your progress report. Do let members know how you get on. I am hoping to start on my 1989 mini van soon. Good luck with yours

RE chrome
I have not had mine re chromed. The camera always tells lies! I have had a price of approx £125 to do front bumper and £145 for the rear.
For the moment I have decided to leave them. People have told me it "adds to the Patina" in other words you would not expect a 44 year old car to be perfect. As you can see on the radiator grill you can see me if you study carefully! The bumpers are not too bad. in fact I can see the pitting of the bumpers in the reflection on the paintwork! Honest!

a proper car tilter - i'm jealous!! much better than using an old mattress on the driveway
the elf's looking grand
Re: some pics off my alf
Thanks for the compliments folks.
The car tilter belongs to my son-in-law and his father. they bought it second hand years ago for about £100. Paid for itself many times over. A couple of warnings though.
1)It is difficult to tip up initially unless there about 5 or 6 of you , to stop it sliding away from you when first lifting it
2), it knackers your studs ! (cheap enough to replace anyway) Boy! does it make it easier! We left the engine in which made it harder ( but emptied the oil and water out and brake and clutch fluid)
3)You have to be careful and check body does not twist if your ground is not even though.
Got to be nice to them now ,I may want it to do the van! I have called her Myvanwy Like that?
