hornet and elf afterlife dilemma
Hi,
I've an Elf and a Hornet, both in need of major restoration. Unfortunatily I've no time or space so they'll have to go to allow room for my one working Mini.
Since the Wolseley served me well for an number of years, I'm keen for it to be restored and not stripped for its rare parts. I was hoping someone may have some good suggestions as to how I may be able to ensure my vehicles go to a genuine enthusiast and not to someone trying to make a quick quid or strip them as doner cars for their other projects.
Cheers for your help,

I'm sure with some of the brave rescue projects currently underway, there will be interest in both your Elf and Hornet. Are these cars complete and can they be moved and loaded onto a car transporter/trailer? Where are the cars located?
Any chance of any images? Sorry for all the questions but it gives register members a better idea of the logistics and the scale of the restoration work.

This is a picture of them both. I'll upload more images later (probably tomorrow). They are non runners having been stationary for years but are mounted with wheels on subframes so can be manouvered. They're based in North Cornwall.
Cheers

Elf and Hornet dilemma
Thanks for all the images. The Hornet looks the better car and the Elf with an appropriate registration SAD certainly lives up to it.
Its difficult to judge each car from photo images but the Hornet looks a proposition. Is the Elf complete and if so what is the general condition, particularly the interior? From one of the interior images, the drivers seat is black which if original is one of the final production cars. Not a big deal but it may attract some attention being it is a little different.
Finally the big question, have you a figure in mind for each car or both together?

Re: hornet and elf afterlife dilemma
The interior is black for the Elf but it's not in good condition (dry, cracked, torn and shrunken). It's an H reg 69 mk 3. Although I seem to recall the log book say it was first registered in 1984. (I'll have to dig out the paper work and check that again) Unfortunatly the SAD number plate off another car
I believe most bits are about but not sure how usable they'll be. The Elf probably looks worst because it was stripped it down 12 years ago to start restoring it but as I mentioned it would be a big restoration job. The Hornet probably is the better of the two but both would probably need a whole new floor pan and rear quarter panels to a foot above the sills plus other paneling.
The Hornet's a mk 2 1964.
In regards to price? I don't know at the moment but suggestions are very welcome.
I'll be heading back down to Cornwall Friday week so if you'd like more photo's or more details I can check things out then.
Cheers again

Hornet
I would be willing the take the Hornet, although it looks like it would be a long term project, and I would never be willing to pay much - if your only thinking of the cash you would be better on ebay. The Hornet I am doing at the moment was in much the same condition, and that was a freebie, on the basis that it would be restored.

Re: hornet and elf afterlife dilemma
I wasn't thinking of much money for them but they shouldn't really be freebe's. I was hoping that I could use the money from selling the two cars to get some way to obtaining the components required for my Mini. These items include 2 new doors, a radiator, a heater matrix, wiring loom and shiny grill and bumpers. I'd be open to offers of some of these items.
By the way I'm currently down in Cornwall for the next few hours so if you have any questions that I need to inspect the vehicles for please ask soon and I'd do my best. I plan to be down again at Easter but that's when the cars need to go.
Cheers

Still Available
These cars are still here.
The price is really up to any one. I'm currently thinking £300 for them both but seriously any offers. The main issue is that I'd like the wolseley to go to a good home and be restored and not stripped for cash (that is why I'm at this site and not ebay)
Many thanks.

Re: hornet and elf afterlife dilemma
Hi there.
Money is a real issue at the moment, but I can promise a restoration and a good home. Had a good look at the pictures and the descriptions and nothing scares me off.
Let me know if you would consider me a worthy cause.
All the best with finding good homes for these cars and sorting your Mini out.

Re: hornet and elf afterlife dilemma
Hi,
There are still available. Unfortunely I had been waiting the past year for one person to collect them but they're circumstrances lead them not have the garage room to store them. It would be best if they went together as I do need to travel all the way from London to Cornwall to deal with them.
