If you look to the right of the car there is an office. That is where I found this poor old girl covered in dust. She was put up there about 14 years ago after the wings/inner wings and A panels were replaced. The customer had vanished for about 6 yrs and when he reappeared he didn't want the car any more so instructed the garage to get rid. So it just sat there until I bought it. Getting it down was fun.

I could do with a bit of help though. The log book says maroon but I need to know the exact colour so I can respray her. I'm going with old English for the roof. Also can anyone tell me if I have to cut the arches to fit group 2 arches on because I want to fit some but I'm not going to start chopping her up. If I do have to then I will just go with standard arches and chrome covers over the top. No engine at the moment but I have an 850 with 60,000 genuine miles as a first engine. Then it will get the 1275 from my Morris 1300 while I do the body on that. And I can save up for a good fast road 1380/1400 on 40dcoe possibly.

So it's a Hornet then? Assuming since Elfs were never Maroon. If so, then it should have either a Snowberry or Togo White roof, not OEW. Besides, OEW is so Ordinary. Razz

No it's an elf. And that just underlines the point that I need some help sourcing the right colours.

Oh, well alright then. It should look like this.
1969 the year i was born 3720598244_b9d5469521_z
Damask Red and Whitehall Beige. My roof was wrongly painted OEW when I first got the car, and it just never looked right with the Damask Red. Whitehall Beige is the proper roof color. I've seen one chart that had an alternate red, called Peony Red, but it also has Whitehall Beige for the roof. I've never seen a Peony Red car that I know of, so not sure what it looks like.

That's the aim, although I don't want it to look just like that because then it would be a copy. Was thinking 12" wheels and group2 arches. But you're one is a beauty.

Short answer - No.
You have to do a good deal of fettling to make them work. Plus you would be giving up a good deal of the suspension and ride quality by the need to go to shorter sidewalls and increased bump steer. From experience, 10 inch tires are a much better combination all round.

I could not agree more with Red Riley ( Good morning Brian ).
The 10" wheel is the chosen diameter by virtually all of the Irish Mini racing and rallying fraternity.
And that goes for the now mostly retired brigade (present company to be excluded) and the current young bloods.
The introduction of the 12" and later 13" wheels did nothing for the handling of the car. Improved ride comfort ? - maybe ?
Minis were designed for the 10" wheel - its as simple as that.

I really like the look of my 13 inch Superlights and 175/50-13 Yokohamas. If I was building a car to put in a glass box I would do the same again. If I was building a new car to drive, I would go with 10 inchers.
