Elfred is for sale - Mk2 Elf
Hello everyone,
Just to let you know that I have made the reluctant decision to sell "Elfred", my 1965 Riley Elf Mk 2 on eBay.
Many EHR members may have seen Elfred at Malvern, Castle Combe, Brooklands and Stanford Hall.
I believe that my eBay description will give all of the details.
I already have the starting bid of £1495 (within 10 minutes of listing) and it will be sold to the highest bidder with no reserve.
The eBay link is :

Thank you for looking.
Best regards,
Richard Bradley

For what I've seen the Hydro pumps asking over here, you could sell the pump and toss the Elf in for free.

THe Hydrolastic pump I have is like a big grease gun with a flexible pipe and a screw connected that will fit a tyre type valve. You can buy them new from adverts in Practical Classics for about £100 new. I paid half of that second hand which included the fluid.
I have offered it free of chage to the buyer of the car if he wants it. If not I will sell it separately.
Best regards,
Richard

I've got one of those. It wouldn't be too difficult to make your own, the trickiest bit is the connector, which I understand is used by farmers for water-filling tractor tyres, so I suppose an agricultural store might supply one.
There are instructions on the web somewhere... ah yes, a short way down this page. My pump has the end cap sealed with an o-ring and nut & bolt. HTH!

Something like this one?
This is what I used on my car, when it still had the hydro.

Yes, my pump is similar to the one in the photo, but not quite as fancy looking. The main thing is that it works.
The whole job of levelling the car up again takes me about half an hour time you get the pump and fluid out and put it back again, so it is not too bad. However, I would not rush out to buy another car with Hydrolastic, despite it giving a better ride. You know where you are with rubber cones.
Best regards,
Richard

Come to think of it Jase, why don't you buy Elfred?
A Mk2 and a Mk3 would make a good set.
You could then claim both prizes at Malvern in the Autumn show!
Best regards,
Richard
