Exhaust gone Empty Exhaust gone

Hi,

My exhaust has started blowing and I was just wondering if there's any difference between a Elf exhaust and a Mini one?

Cheers.

The only difference is the extended tail pipe. The cheapest solution, if you have a MIG welder, is to cut off a good straight piece of the old exhaust and weld it to tail pipe of the new exhaust or you can ask a local exhaust specialist to extend the tail pipe with some new steel tube. With some careful grinding, you can clean the weld to make the joint less obvious.

If you are a member of The Riley Motor Club, you can buy full systems ready to fit.

Although you would expect the Mini Van system to fit, it doesn't. The floor on the Elf/Hornet is the same as the Mini saloon with just an extension to the boot however the Van/Countryman has an extended floor pan. You can make a Van exhaust to fit and Elf/Hornet but you will make a few cuts and welds.

If you call Maniflow they will build you one specific, you just need to give them the measurements of how long you want the tail pipe.

You have me confused now. I recall taking mine into my local depot for an exhaust a couple of years ago. Obviously they told me the original system was NLA, and I'm pretty sure they fitted an estate system, from stock, without mods. Unusually I can't find the receipt (I keep eveything in a folder and it's missing) but being handwritten it probably wouldn't be helpful.

It's definitely an unmodified system and it definitely fits. I'm fully aware of the differences between estate, saloon and Elf as I have all three.

Mine went last year. I bought a complete tailored system from the Maniflow stand at Castle Combe, complete with an adjustable extending chrome tailpipe! Looks and sounds great!! The only downside was that I had to do a few minor mods at the manifold end but nothing to tedious!

Alternatively, and exhaust system from a Mini Pick-up pre 1978 definitely fits! (I know because I did it! Smile ) so, you would think van and estates would do the same.....

But personally, I would swear by Maniflow - they're the boys!!!

Thanks. I'll dig the welder out and patch it for now and have a look for maniflow on the Sunday of the mini50 show. Might go lcb as well. Very Happy
