Basically it feels like the carb decides to stop working with either a loss of power or it sticks open - I found it tends to happen on part throttle at about 50 to 60 mph. The ways I found to help this is to put a big sheet behind the grill to reduce cold air flow into the engine bay and spray the carb with WD40 before a journey and if it happens during. Still happens though but not as much, normally cold foggy weather. The other option is to put a heated manifold in
Never know it may help you a bit

Thanks Gordon,
It was indeed cold and damp - Gotta be worth a try if (when) it happens again. Al's already suggested covering the grille to reduce the air flow, gonna try and do that tomorrow evening as the forecast is looking particularly cold here on Friday morning.

Not sure if this is tempting fate, but just to let you all know Katy's been fine the last two weeks, so fingers crossed (and a bit a strategically placed cardboard by the ever helpful Al) she'll keep going.
