Mk3 Doors & Boot Lock
I am trying to source some new doors for my mk3 and also need a new boot lock where the barrel isn't actually shot to bits! ie it locks!

I have a boot lock with Key See below link. (It is only the chrome bit with hook and key,not the actual lock itself.)

Doors
Hi,
I had this company supply me with new doors http://www.minidoor.co.uk/ - I say new but they were restored. He will do your own, or if your lucky he may have a couple ready to be done - 1st class job!

Re: Mk3 Doors & Boot Lock
It will most likely be a case of restoring your existing doors, as they are significantly different to Mini doors. Even the hinges are different. Elf doors are simply unobtainable. If yours are beyond repair, then look for some restorable used ones.
I think basically the Elf & Hornet MkIII doors were the prototype for the wind-up windows used in all later Minis - but they changed the design in light of experience!

Doors
The prices page of the Mini Door company website suggests they have some of these to buy outright, already restored at £148 for internal hinges and they can redo your own for external at £200 per door!

I think I'm going down the repair route!

thought 1 - Prototype no - coachbuilt yes our (ok... your, mine is B@stArd with a capital B ) little cars are the most affordable version of the coachbuilders art thats why we have two id plates the BMC one and the Fishlow one.
thought 2 - we were 1st...when BL built the Mk3 Mini and Clubman in '69 they robbed the existing Elf/Hornet MkIII parts bin for external handles which they used 'til 1971 when they introduced the ones that went on 'til the end.

Re: Mk3 Doors & Boot Lock
I had my MK2 doors skinned by a fellow miniaddict with standard mini skins. cost me £180 for pair including the skins and undercoat. N/S was a swine to fit (think the Elf may have had a minor shunt with previous owner) Only had about 4mm to spare!
Repair is the way to go,at least you know they will fit!
