Not original I konw, but I'd love to have a set of door caps for Tonka. Anyone has a spare set to sell and more importantly willing to ship off to Singapore?

Door capping Door-cappings

i mean these wooden door cappings. These ones from Minisport fit but I think the burr walnut does not match the Elf's dash which is lighter in colour.

You may be able to "darken" the elf Dash to match hopefully?

Door capping Empty Wooden Door Cappings

Post  Elf Service Sat Feb 07, 2009 5:48 pm

I managed to purchase a set for my Elf a few years ago from a UK Mini show. They are made out of Elm and are a perfect match for the Elf Dash.
I haven't seen any for a while but the company offering them was based in London. Sorry I can't help with any more details but they do exist and the fit is perfect. From memory I paid about £70.00 for the set of four and with the Red Leather trim and Damask Red interior paintwork, they add the finishing touch to the interior.
I have a Mk3 Elf and as they cover the top of the door, you loose the interior door pull handles. Not much of a problem but thought it worth a mention.

Best of luck with your quest.

That looks very nice Andrew. Are the seat leathers originals?

Door capping Empty Leather seats

Post  Elf Service Sun Feb 08, 2009 2:36 am

Hi Tony

The seats have been recovered in leather including back and sides. The leather is regularly treated and is soft and supple. The seats are more comfortable than my later Sportspack Mini.

GB Parts
This place has them. They're in the US, but if you're shipping them to Singapore, that shouldn't make a difference.

Wow Andrew, that's exactly what i am looking for. Some of my local club members have bought dashes from Exim Trading but they don't seem to be in business anymore although the website is still up. http://woodtrim.info/woodtrim/ (not replying to emails)

Door capping Empty Wooden Door Cappings

Post  Elf Service Mon Feb 09, 2009 1:35 am

I have checked their Website and will call their London number tomorrow. I expect this is where my door cappings came from, as I was told when I purchased mine that they were made out of natural Elm which wasn't a standard colour on any Mini. The price quoted on their website is £90.00 and when you go through the purchasing procedure, they add a further £5.00 (possibly packing and postage for UK). Again I will find out more and let you know.

Their online ordering does work, but several of the links are broken on the main website. You need to use this link: http://woodtrim.info/acatalog/

Door capping Empty Elf Spec

Post  Elf Service Mon Feb 09, 2009 12:59 pm

It has been modified. 80bhp at the wheels, Cooper S discs with remote servo, close ratio rod change gearbox with 3.1 final drive. Rubber Cone suspension with gas adjustable shocks, 4.5inch Minilites with 165 Yoko tyres etc. 100+mph, 0 to 60 about 10 seconds.
Other than the alloys and a rather loud exhaust, it looks standard and gives a few people a shock when you pass them at the lights and on the motorway.

Have tried the "WoodTrim" telephone number in London as per their Website but the number isn't recognised, so not looking too hopeful. Suggest trying the route suggested by Red Riley.

Good Luck

1150cc (1098 +60). Tuftrided crank fully balanced with ultralite flywheel, SW5 Swiftune Cam, Stage 3/4 295 Cooper head, fully ported and fitted with larger valves, 1.5 rockers, A+ Block (for additional strength). The engine revs freely up to 7000rpm (not bad for an 1100) and the cam give a smooth idle and pulls well up to 6000+ rpm. 1100 engines give loads of torque so it pulls well in all gears and even when you need to do some fast overtaking in third and fourth.
Looking under the bonnet being it is a small bore engine and 295 head, it just looks like a standard 998 small bore block and head with a stage one kit.
It was quite expensive to build but it still qualifies for Classic Car insurance with agreed value and unlimited mileage at a reasonable £125.00. All the engine data has been submitted to the Insurance company and the additional increase was minimal.

Just had a reply re Woodtrim in London and they are still trading.

Send an email to ek@woodtrim.info with your details etc.
I will be interested in a few bits for my MPI Mini in a couple of months so let me know how you get on.

Good luck
