Post  psychobob Sat May 28, 2011 12:00 pm

does anyone have an old front door card? there is a shop on ebay doing good cheap mini door cards and when asked, said he could do hornet ones for me if i can send him a door card as a pattern. my project came with mini ones, so i dont have one to send him. any old one would do as i only need the actual card. hope somebody can help, cheers.

i didn't realise they where different. i'm not sure to be honest as the A panel and doors have interior hinges. it already had a flip front and i think it was changed to later doors and hinges for extra strength. mine only have holes for the window winder and door opening handle, which is about an inch further forward than a mini one. any idea's?

i've come to the conclusion they are mk 3 door cards as these are the only ones with winding windows (i think?). still not sussed out posting pictures. this is why i drive a car thats easy to fix!

Newton Commercial will do you the correct pair of door cards, they have all the patterns and I dont think door cards alone are very expensive.

i looked at the newton commercial ones but they are nearly twice the price of the ones i found on ebay (mini ones). if i can get one to him for a pattern he will be able to supply good quality cheap ones. does anyone know if i am right about mk3's being the only ones with wind-up windows?

Yes, MKIII was the first with wind-ups. Ref: http://www.elf-hornet-register.co.uk/Timeline.html
Why not just have him do them without the door handle holes and do the holes yourself?

Even the ones from Newton Commercial require you to cut th vinyl yourself (although the hole is precut in the cardboard).

I do have a spare you can use a pattern if you can collect from Wantage in Oxfordshire.
