1969 Riley Elf dry-stored since 1988 for sale

I have been contacted by a couple from Isleworth, Middlesex, who have (reluctantly!) offered for sale their 2-owners from new 1969 Riley Elf mkIII. This little car has been dry-stored since 1988, prior to which it was in everyday use. It has 49k on the clock and up until around 18 months ago had been started and run around the block every year. It now has no battery however and the old petrol has been drained from the tank, so is currently a non-runner. However, i have viewed this car today, and whilst it is not mint and is need of a little tlc, it is a very good, solid car and a very good prospect. Rear bumper is very good and dashboard is excellent. Seats would respond nicely to a clean up and have no apparent rips or damage. I was very tempted myself and have only resisted temptation because i already have two cars!

Only obvious bad points on the little car are the front wings have rust issues where they meet the front panel, bottom of driver's door has seen better days, hydro needs a pump up, exhaust needs replacing and the front carpets are worn. Other than that, it only needs re-commisioning. It has twin carbs fitted too.

I really hope someone from the forum buys it, I would be tempted myself had I not just bought "kevin"!

that looks lovely Al, would go nicely next to my '69 hornet too i've just text you, let me know how much they want

although it may sound a little steep for an off-the-road non-runner, i reckon that the little car is worth in the region of £800 with another £500 or so needing spending to bring it right back up to scratch. it's much too nice and original to be over-restored

That's not far off what I was thinking (hoping!). I'd take it for £750, without seeing it. I'm sure that you're re-commisioining list is pretty accurate.

I'd need a week or so to arrange to get the car home, although I'd be happy to drop the cash off in the meantime.

It'd have a happy new home, I promise I'm not going to turn it around for a quick profit, or ruin it!
