Steering Rack
I have been advised in a recent MOT that there is some play in my steering rack joint and it will need replacing soon. I have the low mileage steering rack from my Rover mpi that I was considering fitting as the replacement. I have just seen on the Mini Spares web site that they advertise their steering racks as '67 on, but my Elf was built in '66.
What's the difference? What does everyone else do?

Re: Steering Rack
Unless you are insistent upon using original (original type) parts, change to the Mk II+ steering rack. (You must change the steering arms, too.) The much tighter turning circle is what the Mini should have had to start with.
If your MPi is a Pose Pack (Sports Pack) with 13" wheels, do not use that rack. The turning circle is limited so the silly 13" wheels would clear the body.
