Subframes and everything is ready to go for shell
More updates I picked up the subframes from the Powder coater today they look better then new. Were sandblasted back to bare metal and re done from there.
Also got two spray outs for the Persian Blue and Snowberry White from the painter.
Different shade of blue then I was expecting but looks really nice with the white.
I also have all the pedal box, heater matrix all repainted ready for re assembly when the shell arrives back. It is ready to go the painter is waiting for a slot to fit her in Thinking it should be tomorrow or Friday and should have her back in a week or two.

Engine all cleaned up
So myself and dad went at the engine at the weekend. We cleaned all the gunk and oil off it and gave it a lick of paint. It look brand new.
You can see the drastic improvement from the black it was coming out of car.
we will be changing the spark plugs, leads, cap etc.. as well obviously jsut poped old ones on to get the look.

ENGINE ALL CLEANED UP :
Only a suggestion mind !
But have you considered painting the entire engine (and gearbox) green ?
A slave to authenticity (?) would paint the starter motor & dynamo (or alternator) black.

Engine paint
Hi David I thought originally the engine and gear box was two colours. Did'nt think it was all green. I know in 1972 they started to paint the engines black as opposed to the green and where two tone. Would be interested to know.

Subframes are in and is back of 4 wheels
Today we started to put the car back together. It left the paint shop and went to MiniFix to get the subframes back in. We ran the brake lines, fuel lines and got the subframes put back in. It turned out to be alot of fiddling and swearing but got them in eventually. Huge thanks to Paul and James for everything. So photos
Arriving from the paint shop
Back one almost in

radius arms and suspension back in and wheels back on.

Great work here, this is my next step. Managed to get the boot floor and heel board in last week, rebuild all the back bits now before moving towards the front.

Thanks
Thanks Humph.
Yeah I was amazed when I saw the finish on the paint. Loved the colour combination as well. That is it out of the gun as well it is yet to be buffed and polished. Looking forward to having it all back together. Just interior to be done by the trimmer in the new year and she will have everything done really. Will slow down now over the xmas break but all going well will be back on the road early next year. Keep at it though is great to see another one saved.
Regards,
Stuart

No I have painted the doors thanks kaschperl good spot they are in fact my old green doors that were very bad so I got a replacement pair, that have been painted.
As regards to the dash DirkWegman it was completely stripped of all its old flaking veneer, there was some spot where a layer had lifted in the wood itself. Here we just cut a piece to size to fill the imperfections. Standard wood glue did the job. we left it in a press over night to ensure good adhesion and it was properly set. Then we sourced a roll of new veneer which we placed over the top of the entire dash. We cut the piece in a way that the grain goes from one side to the other in one complete follow on. It was stained with polish to give it colour then lacquered with six coats of aerosol lacquer being sanded between each coat when dry.
Finished piece is it complete article then, look nearly better then new.

Back from the trimmers
So as I said the car went to the trimmers last week to get the headlining in and the dash rail covering in. We have also left the seats and door cards with the trimmer so should have them back soon. We bit the bullet and said we would go full leather. We chose a grayish/bluish colour whick compliments the paint and carpet colour. Can't wait to have it all finished so photos

More updates
Thanks Guys is coming together great now. Looks nearly better then it did in 1968 i'd say. Thanks Al_Smith and Jared it should'nt be too long now until complete. So when we went to start it the fuel pump started to leak so a new one was popped in and is running sweetly now. The boot lid has also been fitted.
I ordered blank door cards for it off Newton, they arrived today and are going up to my trimmer tomorrow to be wrapped in the same leather as the seats. He is working away at them as I speak. He came down with the rear seat yesterday and popped it in looks so nice. So photos
