2013 SPIRIT OF DUNBOYNE (Co.Meath) MOTOR CLUB FESTIVAL : 28th & 29th SEPTEMBER :
This is to advise all fans of this unique event that its almost time to get your entry in. Unique because (subject to vehicle & driver scrutiny) - it gives
Classic Car ( & Motorcycle ) owners the opportunity to drive the unique Dunboyne Motor Race Circuit which though now no more was run on public roads !
Straw bales very much in evidence-its like taking a step back to the 1950/60s. Last year (see Coco_Chanels's report in this Forum on last year's event) was bigger and better than ever and this year promises to emulate 2012. See www.dunboynemotorclub.com for updates.

2013 SPIRIT OF DUNBOYNE (Co.Meath) MOTOR FESTIVAL 28th &29th SEPTEMBER :
I took these photos at the Dunboyne Races on 16th July 1966. The year before the last running (in 1967) of these races.
They show 2 racing cars competing for the Dunboyne Trophy - a 15 Lap - 60 mile race. The open racer is a 1,498cc engined Cooper & the Ferrari is a 3,385cc V12 G.T.which finished 4th. https://i.servimg.com/u/f70/16/89/08/53/dunboy12.jpg

SPIRIT OF DUNBOYNE (CO.MEATH) MOTOR CLUB FESTIVAL - NEXT SUNDAY 29TH SEP :
I hope to meet the newer Irish Elf & Hornet owners ( and also one or two old hands) at the Dunboyne Festival next Sunday.
As mentioned elsewhere, I plan to drive my '65 Morris Mini Cooper (Car No.24) in the Parade Laps Session on Sunday afternoon.

SPIRIT OF DUNBOYNE - SUNDAY 29th SEP.2013 :
A really great day was had by all & this is not a cliche - the sun shone all day - it was a pleasant 16 degrees - and there was a very fine & varied
selection of cars - antique, vintage, veteran & classic - 82 cars in all. There was also 77 motorcycles of all vintages.
The oldest car was a 1903 French Delahaye racing car still capable of nearly 80 mph. As already reported there were 3 Elfs (Elves?) but sadly no
Hornets. There were Minis, Mini Coopers & a very neat Clubman. Each category of car (& bike) was treated to 4 " parade laps " of the old Dunboyne road racing Circuit dating from 1957. Straw bales & flag marshalls & noise ! - incredible. Roll on September 2014 - Dunboyne really is a special place on its special day.

Great pics!
Well done, David, you got some great photos. I love that flame blue mini, shame it wasn't over with the rest of ours. I didn't see the owner at all, but wow, it was pristine.
Glad you had a good day. We waited to take photos of you but I think they re-jigged the laps because they sent round other cars at the time we were expecting to see you. Sadly, we had to nip home after that so the Sunday roast didn't catch fire! Hope it went well for you.
I'm only sorry they don't give a token prize, a rosette or something, in each rough category of cars, it would be the cherry on the cake.

GREAT PICS !
Thanks Ali
That flame blue Mini that you admired is an original Irish Mk.II Mini Cooper S with Co.Meath registration from somewhere between June 1969 and January '70. Its proud owner is an acquintance of mine & this car is part of his " Italian Job " trio of Irish registered Cooper Ss. The red car being a Mk.I , the
blue one as above and the white one being one of only 5 Cooper S Mk.IIIs imported into the Irish Republic in 1971/72.
Incidentally I forgot to post a photo of my own (by comparison) puny-engined 998cc Morris Cooper from 1965 - nevertheless enjoying itself at the
Dunboyne Festival last Sunday.
