Build date & registration date anomolies
Hi
My Hornet was registered in Feb 1965, and this is supported by both the V5 and original service book. However, the Heritage Certificate has the build & dispatch date as August 1963. Also, the Dealer is different, but it's in the same area. Was it normal for cars to sit around for over a year, looking for a home? Was the supply way greater then the demand in the early sixties? Any ideas? Thanks Pete.

From what others have discussed here, it wasn't that uncommon.

BUILD DATE & REGISTRATION DATE ANOMOLIES
soupdragon, have a look at the dated bits on your car. If they are original they will point to the build date. Also, a Feb 65 car would be on hydro with the appropriate body mods. An August 63 car would be on dry suspension.

Build date
Hi I had the same problem with my 64 mk 2 elf. back in the early days the local council registered all cars until 1965
then it was transfered to DVLA, if the council didn't provide all the right information then dvla would register that car
from the date they took over from the council.Hope this helps you.
