Tail-light Tales
I was at a local car show this week and was parked next to a Wolsley 1100. The tail lights look identical to those on the Elf / Hornet / South African Mk3.
Can anyone confirm this? It might make searching for parts just a tiny bit easier - these items are like hen's teeth here in Africa!

Yep. Early 1100 taillights are the same as Elf/Hornet ones. That includes the Austin, Wolseley, MG, Austin America, Riley Kestrel, and I think maybe even one of the Aston Martin cars. The ones I have on my Elf are Austin 1100 export all-red versions. Just do a search for Lucas L695, you'll find lots.

Over-riders
Clearly "hen's teeth" rear lights can be found but over-riders are rarer than rocking horse poo!
You need to source one but a pair would definitely be best. The ones on the car are a hodgepotch. One of the front ones is off another car and one of the rear ones is holed.

Re: Tail-light Tales
I think the Riley Motor Club had some new ones a number of years ago. Any RMC members on here that can check to see if there are any still available?
Also check with Nick at www.min-e-bitz.com.
He has one listed for sale.
rupert_fish also has one on Ebay LINKY

Tail Light Find
Thanks
I actually found a couple of spares in my garage. Also a hotchpotch of lenses, bulbs and wiring bits. The rear lights on SAMk3's car are actually fairly new replacements and are in good nick. I think we are sorted for now. Next job, a steering boss which is going to be next to impossible. I think it was unique to the South African Mk3 and features an Austin Crest. The back of the boss is a different shape from that used on UK Sprites and Minis. I think there is a pic on one of my older posts here.

The steering boss looks like this :
Mine isn't in the best of condition, but it is original and it gives an idea of what it should look like.

Re: Tail-light Tales
Jared, How about starting a separate thread on the steering wheel centre? I've been doing some digging on the topic and it kind of gets lost in this thread about lights. If you'd start the thread and post the photos there (one of the steering wheel the centre fits into would help), we may be able to come up with some answers.
