New Carburettor Empty New Carburettor

Post  discoman41 Mon Feb 21, 2011 2:06 am

Well I have had a most enjoyable day working on "Rupe" with my stepdad.

We removed his original and troublesome carburettor and fitted a brand new (later Mini) Carb, retaining the orignal jet needle. Opted for later mini as the original one would not seat right with MG Metro inlet manifold that was applied to accommodate the bespoke Maniflo exhaust. So my stepdad meticulously "rebuilt" almost the new carb, and ground down the inlet manifold so that it fitted better against the block, and now with a new manifold gasket applied, he is no longer leaking at the manifold. He is now running sweeter than ever.

The only downside to the day was noticing that the offside universal joint is knackered.

Dilemma now is, do I get the UJ's done before Brooklands, or risk getting him to Brooklands, and then get them done for the MOT the week after.......
