Re: What other classics do we own?
As well as my Elf I have:
71 Clubman (hydrolastic)
72 Clubman Estate
74 1275GT
89 Mini Sky (daily)
91 Mini Neon (wife's daily)
The first three are all in project stages though the 71 is drivable though not MOTd. As you see each of my Minis is a fairly rare version.
Then the non-Minis:
79 Capri MkIII 1.3 (surprisingly rare, project)
84 VW T25 camper with Rover 3.5 V8 Not exactly common either!

Re: What other classics do we own?
Along with my Elf I have a 1960 Austin Seven and a 1966 Porsche 912.
Re: What other classics do we own?
1968 MG Midget - burns loads of oil, but it's been in the family for 30+ years, so who cares!
1977 DL16 FF2000 cars - (2 of them) usually in a million pieces.
1968 998 Mk 2 Cooper (a basket case for the last 25 years & likely to remain that way for the next 25)
1933 MG K3 - Another heirloom, loads of trouble, but bags of fun, doesn't burn oil, just leaks it in buckets.
I guess an 1997 Audi A4 doesn't count.........
But I wish I'd never sold my Mk1 998 Cooper

Wish it was mine.
Only the Elf a 1884 Mercedes 280SL at the moment. Work in progress but swallows money like it is going out of fashion. Nice

A40 Farina as a daily? Cool! I used to have a nice one but sold it in favour of my Minis as I didn't think it was quite "me". That decision may have been a mistake... A40 pics

Re: What other classics do we own?
I thought Mini's and variants suffered from the dreaded tin worm but A40's are in a different league. I love the rear springs, I presume the leaf separation in down to more tin worm activity.asahartz wrote:martin k wrote:my missus reckons im a car hoarder the only problem is she owns a share in all but 2 they are as follows 1948 rover p3

Re: What other classics do we own?
Generally they always were prone to rust. Mine was much better than average, having been barn-stored for several years before I bought it. The springs were caused by rust as you say - I guess they got the salt of a British winter before it was parked up!
