Hi Folks Very Happy
I need advice on hornet doors, my hornet is a mk3 1967 my question is are the doors on hornets the same as mini's i know this sounds a really simple question but im not to sure on the hinge fitting/placement etc.
Also are door skins from mini's the same as the mk3 hornet.
Many thanks John

No, Elf and Hornet doors are different to Mini doors. The skins are the same, but the frame around the lock is quite different and Mini doors won't fit.

The Elf & Hornet were the first to get wind-up windows. It seems they were a kind of prototype, and the design got modified before being extended to the Mini.

So we need to look after our doors! Repairing them is possible but not easy; repair sections are available but you have to be careful to jig the frame to prevent distortion (and I always jig them when reskinning too).

in case you need 'em, i have a spare, sound nearside door, but it has the smaller hinges, rather than the later, larger, late mk III type

rusty, by the way, will have large hinge door on nearside and small hinge door on offside (drilled new holes and welded up old holes on offside) purely because that's the way fate dictated he should go........... Rolling Eyes
