WANTED:13" WHEELS
Hi Everyone,
Just wondered if anyone has a set of 13" wheels with good tyres they would be interested in selling?
I'm planning on taking my hornet down to Spain, France and Italy in July but want a better cruising speed for the motorways.
Any info would be appreciated.
Olly

Re: WANTED:13" WHEELS
Are you sure about 13"? You can't fit most 13s without cutting the wings (might get away with 13x5 but they're not all that common).
12" however should go on easily, and with the advantage of much cheaper tyres. The rolling circumference is about the same as 13s. Whatever you get, watch out for the offset - all wheels are not the same! Having just bought a set of 12x5 Minilights for my Sky, I looked at the offset of the existing wheels (+27) and found that the Minilights are +31 which will go no problem. Superlights however have an offset of +14, meaning they would stick out 13mm further than my existing wheels - on checking the front wheels I found that I did not have 13mm clearance on turning to play with! So I couldn't get Superlights (or Revos, same offset) as I don't want to cut the arches on this car.
I've driven Minis on 13x7, 12x6 and 12x5 in the last year, some combinations being swapped on the same car. 12x6 gave the best handling and ride IMO but they need the arches cut so I'm settling for 12x5. 13x7 have awesome cornering, but tramline badly with road bumps and you do lose out on ride comfort. 10s are best for that!

Thanks for the replies.
I'll see how much Jason wants but might widen my search.
I cut out the arches on my hornet when I replaced the front end so I could lower it further on my 10's. I have hi-lo's so can adjust to get as much clearance as possible for those quaint European roads.

I've just done the calcs and like you say the 12's actaully have a larger overall diameter so anyone with a set of 12's please let me know.

What do you want, steels or alloy? I've a set of Minilights, could do with paint refurb, no tyres.

Re: WANTED:13" WHEELS
Ideally I could do with something with tyres, although close up condition isn't important as i'll be doing 3000 miles so show condition would be wasted on them!
I just want something which looks good in the pics and gives better economy than the 10's.
If I had time i'd change the diff and keep the 10's but work is manic so the dreaded 12's or 13's it is!

I have a set of 13" Rover Sports Pack wheels if your interested, tyres are good but one has a slow puncture! Fat 195 tyres too!!! They have the odd little scrape but nothing major, not sure what to ask for them, I will have to check out what the going rate is.
email me if your interested

Hi guys,
Thanks for you replies, think i'm sorted now and those nice shiny 13's are far too nice to drag them 3000 miles round europe.
Thanks again for your help.
