Chrome waist strips removal
As Lexy is getting resprayed next month I am now in the process of stripping her down.
How do you remove the chrome strips along the sides of the body, the one across the scuttle, and the two door window surrounds?

I've found that a bit of gentle pressure with a wide blade scraper will get it started and rust will take care of the rest, as the mounting clips disintegrate. Putting them back on, that's a whole different story.

I'm hoping there isn't any rust in there yet as she had a full bare metal rebuild a year or two ago, so I don't think that rust will help at all.
The only reason I'm stripping her down now is because the previous paint job can only be described as . So I'm getting her resprayed before the rust has a chance to take hold.

using something thin and plastic, start at one end and very gently prise the strip away from the clips that hold it to the body - use car so as not to kink the strip. once you're done the first one it's a doddle. the clips can always be replaced it they're rusty (they only rivet on to the body) and can be obtained on ebay or from www.catmint.biz
