Disc Brakes
Just starting a topic that will be a build thread for a disc conversion.
I'm not using Mini disc hubs but am going to be using Civic Crx calipers. I believe they are for vented discs so should give fantastic braking. For those of you that don't know the conversion requires calipers with hangers and pads, brackets (which you make), discs (machined to 7.9" and redrilled for mini stud pattern) and a set of wheel spacers with extended studs.
Calipers with hangers and pads I've sourced off eBay new for £80 the pair. Discs should be around £40 tops and spacers for all wheels will be £32ish from Minispares. Fortunately I have the steel for the brackets and a friend who has a Lathe to do the machining (it was also his profession)
The conversion gives the same track as a Cooper S conversion.
More to follow when the parts arrive.
