My Elf in Mini World
I'm pleased to say that my Elf feature is in November's Issue which dropped through the letter box this morning. They have spread me over me three pages.! (see pages 47-49) (Not out on the shelves yet) Unfortunatley, despite me asking them to mention the E/H Reg, they didn't but have put in a rear view shot showing the club sticker!
The feature stemmed from me sending in a couple of photos to be put in the "I love my Mini section" and was emailed back asking if they could do a feature.
I also found out why we have few Elfs/Hornets in the UK.....They are all in Japan! (pages 14/15) They almost matched our line up of 13 cars at the IMM !

Re: My Elf in Mini World
Sweet! Congrats, Tony!
If someone would be kind enough to pick up an extra copy and post it to me, I'd happily send a paypal your way. Have you ever looked at the cost to have a subscription sent to the USA? 98 pounds for a year! And that's supposedly 24% off the "regular" rate. Bloody outrageous! I can't afford more than one sub at these rates, (actually I can't really afford even the one) and I've already got the "other" Mini Mag coming.
By the way, look for my VTEC Elf in the mags (both MW and MM shot it this summer) coming soon.

Postage and other things shipped from the UK are expensive. Email delivery options for publications should be an option.

Re: My Elf in Mini World
Some confusion here. My email pal in Massachusetts was told by MW they could no longer send him subscription copies????? (early2008) I guess he may have mis read the wording like "your subscription will cease after such and such a date"
When I joined him at MME 2008 in Maine in the July with my family. The family won four prizes between us in the raffle, one of which was a years free subscription to MW !
Need less to say we gave that to Paul. It will be interesting to see what happens when that expires. I will have to tell him to read it more carefully!

Re: My Elf in Mini World
Thank for compliments.
I emailed a few photos to ask them to put in the "I Love my Mini "Section and they asked me if they could do a full feature and then sent a 20 page questionaire to fill in!
All sorts of daft questions Whats your favourite food etc! Loads of specification /modification questions blah blah.
When Andy and Zoe came to do the photoshoot Zoe took about 200 shots and had me moving the car every few minutes to get the light right and the background in right position (although you don't see much of the background in the photos!) The road shot was on a dual carriageway with Andy passing me and Zoe hanging out of the window. All in all they were with me for about three and a half hours!
I think there is a section in the mag where you can apply for them to do a full feature. One of my fellow miniaddicts has had two motorbike engined mins featured and another two had theirs done. so thats four of us in one club to have it done, not a bad record for a club that has only been going 4 years.
My mate in Massachusetts had his 3.8 V8 Chevy engined mini van in last year too. (link was put up on forum last year)
Now we are for waiting for Red Riley's Elf to be put in soon we hope.

Re: My Elf in Mini World
One of the mags that shot my car (I can't remember which one) sent me a 39 page questionnaire to fill out! I can't wait to see if they give me writing credit for the story.

They probably won't!.
Although my write up was true it was re-arranged quite a bit and actually ,it turned out better in my estimation.

Re: My Elf in Mini World
Mine is nowhere near perfect, I would never put it forward for concourse.
I believe in using it to enjoy it, giving others the pleasure of seeing it.
Not wrap it in cotton wool just for concourse competitions, don't see the point.
So don't give up just yet!

Re: My Elf in Mini World
Tony, I got the magazine in the mail today. Nice photoshoot, although I haven't had time yet to read the article. Paging through the back of the mag, guess what? I'm in the magazine! In the Party in the Smokies writeup, I'm in the Dooderwear group photo, the bearded guy with the cap on. And if you know just where to look you can see the white top of my Elf in the back row of the car group shot. Pretty cool!

Cheers Brian. your money came through a few mins ago Thanks
Checked the photos out. You in red shirt (to match the car?) second row almost in centre of pic? Report sounds good. You have a good time?
