Hi All,

Wondering if there would be anymore information on an early February 1962 Riley Elf. I understand it should have the cloth interior. Does anyone have any spare or good quality photographs so that i could get this re-made? Or has anyone done this before?

I also noticed the possibility of seamless front wings. Was this only for the pre-production cars or were there a number of early cars that would have been supplied like this?

Thanks in advance,
David

You might find James Taylor's book, "Factory-Original Mini Mk I & Mk II" helpful. There are a few photos of the interior of an early Mk I. Regarding the seam, the book only indicates that "both seams reappeared at an undetermined point which was probably in the first quarter of 1962."

Hi David I would suggest that your car should have the part cloth trim set, I also have a feb 62 car which has the cloth trim, unfortunately for us the last of the remanufactured has only recently been sold, perhaps we could commission another short run of the cloth?

With regards to your other query re-deseaming of the front wings, my car carries the 67th body number and the 3rd FE number and has the seams. If you would like to talk further feel free to message me, all the best David

I'd certainly be interested in reproduction of the cloth. Not sure though I'd know where to begin with that though. Was there a previous manufacturer?

The car i have has seems also although i know its had two wings and other parts to the front.
One difference I noticed is the scuttle trim (if that's what its called) is up touching against the seem and appears to have no finishing at either end where it meets this. Unsure if its been cut at both ends.

Mine has the original front wings and the scuttle trim has also been cut, my best guest would be after the decision not to de-seam was taken all the pre-ordered trim was cut to fit and used, rather than thrown away.
