What's this Colour?
Hi Guys,
In our strip-down of the car we have uncovered a section of paint which is the original colour. It was hiding under the fuel filler cap: obviously a lazy respray has been done at some point! We aren't sure what the colour is called or what it is. So any help with identifying this colour would be appreciated. I figured I should ask the guys who look at the cars every day to give me a hand!

Hard to say. Is the car a MKII? MkIII? Any clue what color the top of the car is? Have you tried applying for a heritage certificate? That would tell you for certain.
Try this chart and see if it helps any.

RE: Model
The car is a MkIII produced in September 1969. The top (assuming you mean the roof) of the car is painted white, which we think is the original colour.

Re: What's this Colour?
Since you don't have your location in your profile, I wasn't sure which word to use. In the US, we go hood, roof, trunk. In the UK it's bonnet, hood, boot. So I said top, which unless you're on the bottom of the world in Australia, should be understood as the top part of the car.
So if you have a MKIII, it should be one of these:
Body and roof
Arianca Beige (BG13) Pale Ivory (YL1)
Fawn Brown (RD24) Pale Ivory (YL1)
Fawn Brown (RD24) Pale Ivory (YL1)
Birch Grey (GR3) Old English White (WT3)
Birch Grey (GR3) Snowberry White (WT4)
Yukon Grey (GR7) Birch Grey (GR3)
Yukon Grey (GR7) Snowberry White (WT4)
I would guess that's probably Arianca Beige since I think both grey colors are darker, and it doesn't look like Fawn Brown. And as you can see, "white" doesn't help much, since there are lots of different whitish colors. The roof of my car was incorrectly painted Old English White when I got it, which is totally different than the proper Whitehall Beige that it is now.
Good luck!
