Bumper quiz
Hello.
I would like your opinion on the rear bumper of the Beach Car.
The one that was on the car is in terrible condition and cannot be saved. It seems to be the original one, as it is a little bit different than the Elf/Hornet one.
I have acquired 2 rear Elf/Hornet bumpers. Not exactly the same as the original, but in much much better condition.
My main concern is the position of the holes for the bumper bolts. Both the original bumper and the Elf one have 6 holes, but only 2 of them are on the same spot.
Logically the holes on the original bumper are the correct ones, and I should copy those onto the new bumpers, but the 2 central holes are impossibly close to the license plate lamps. It doesn't seem right. The bumper bolts have been welded on to the bumper and generally it is really abused.
What do you think?

Re: Bumper quiz
Wow, really tough choice. I see some fairly significant differences between the original and the Elf ones, especially at the ends and the mounting. I think if I had to make the choice, I'd keep the original one intact and have one of the Elf ones modified to match, then re-chromed. Maybe you could make some mounting adapter plates to put an un-modded Elf one on temporarily, but I definitely would NOT modify or re-drill the mounting flange to suit the Elf bumper. That's my opinion.
