Hi everyone, been 'lurking' for a while, thought I should do the intro thing!

I'm Graham, used to live in the UK, but now down here in sunny Aus!

Just picked up an ex NZ Elf, not seen too much about New Zealand built Elfs, but I know a few have found their way to Aus and even the US.

I have a book about NZ Minis that has some production info for NZ Elfs built at Dominion Motors in NZ, it states around 600 or so were made in the peak year of Mk2 production, mine is one of them!

Meet Elfie!

A friend imported her when his dad died and he was left the car, his father named her Elfie, so it has to stick!

Anyone know much about NZ Elfs? Question

Nice little car, welcome to our bit of cyber-space.
Afraid my knowledge of NZ built Elfs/ Hornets is far less than yours but someone else may know a bit?

Cheers Al, the cars not without a few issues, but generally not too bad, I hope to get it back on the road this year and use it whilst carrying out a 'rolling restoration' Very Happy

Yes, the car was originally white all over, but previous owners father painted it red outside, I might eventually go back to white, but maybe with a red roof! jocolor

I'm making a list of stuff I need, I'm going back to the UK for a wedding next month! Was hoping to get to Brooklands, but might have family committments now Rolling Eyes

Grill badge is a bit sad and side grills could be better,I'll keep looking!

Hi Graham, welcome to our little but lively forum. I have in the past, been in touch with Allan Heywood (enameller) in Australia but regret to say he has now passed away.
If your badge is steel (not aluminium) Alan would have stripped it clean, re chromed and re enamelled it for you.
I understand was one of the best craftman in the world of enamaelling. I hope someone has taken the firm on and continuing his good work and that they may be able to do it for you?

BTW your Elf looks gorgeous.

It looks in really nice condition, the seats and the interior doors look especially snazzy.
