which fuel pump? Empty which fuel pump?

Post  psychobob Sat Oct 15, 2011 10:21 pm

i have an a+ 1275 engine with a hif44 carb and stage one kit. any idea what type of fuel pump i should be using? it has a 998 mechanical pump at the moment but it has no top end power. i'm assuming i need an electrical pump, but what sort of pressure does it need to be? there are loads on ebay but most are at least 4-5 psi and the manual shows the standard one being 2.5-3 psi. will it still run with more pressure? i;m baffled now so any advice would be great!

Maybe speak directly to the guys at Minispares. They list the following for Twin 1.25 SUs so should be in the right ballpark::

Some say one should also fit a "Filter King" filter to regulate the pressure as needed::

Methinks we should all (those with electric/electronic pumps) should fit an anti-collision/anti gravity switch which turns off the pump in the event of an up-ending or collision::

cheers for the advice. a hadn't thought of a fuel regulator. bit of a bummer they cost twice as much as the pump! hopefully when i fit it all it should get a bit more top end. fingers crossed!
