Refitting interior --- what sequence?

Post  tabitha on Mon Nov 08, 2010 4:36 pm

Hi,
Just got our 1968 Elf back from being repainted.
I've got to refit the interior and was wondering if anyone knew in which order it all goes back so it overlaps correctly!
The pieces to go back in are:
Roof lining,
Vinyl top rail (not padded)
A pillar
C pillar
and the bit under the rear screen!

Also has anyone got any tips about refitting these pieces, and what glue would people recommend for the overlaps in the window and door apertures?
Cheers

I'm not sure whether mine was the correct way, but I did roof lining first, then dash rail, then carpet, then door cards, the rear parcel shelf, then rear seat base, then rear seat back. Finally, quarter pillars BEFORE side window seals and rear windscreen seal. No glue needed for those as the seals and roof lining hold them in place. (although I have since removed mine again for recovering). Make sure you put your windows in last. Makes life a lot easier. Front seats went in when everything else was finished.

Hope that's useful?

Did you do the a pillar covers before or after the dash rail? And yes everything helps!

Cheers!
So you reckon
roof lining
A pillars
Vinyl dash
bit under rear screen then
C pillars
I suppose thats quite a logical way!
I know the parts wrap round the openings and can be held in place by the seals but did you have to glue the metal backed a pillar covers in place?
