Stolen Elf
Sadly, my parent's 1969 Riley Elf was stolen in Dallas, Texas a week
before Christmas from their apartment parking lot in the Design
District downtown. We are completely devastated and are trying to
search everywhere for the missing Elf. The police were no help and
said we wouldn't get the car back and that it was probably already on
a ship headed overseas, but we are still keeping the faith our Riley
will be recovered.
They were featured on the news last night:

Do you by chance, have any tips or advice that could possibly help us
find our stolen Riley? We have filed a police report, reported it to
the insurance company, and also call the Dallas pound/towing
companies, and asked local cab drivers to look out for our car on the
road, but nothing has turned up.
Aside from google alerts, daily searching on Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram, eBay, and Classic car forums for any leads, nothing new has
turned up. If you have any helpful information, I would greatly
appreciate any advice.
Thank you for your time and I appreciate any information you may have, have a great day.
Sincerely,
Suzette Tavera

Re: Stolen Elf
Yeah, I've seen this in several places. It totally sucks. The problem with someone stealing a car that unique (especially in the states) is that it is going to be cut up for parts within hours of being taken.
The scenario that went through my head when I first saw it, was that some illegal car breaker was putting out a search for classic Minis, and an ignorant car thief spotted this Elf at a show or somewhere and followed it home. Winched it into their Sprinter van and took it to the chop shop. Chop shop guy looks at it and says "Dafuq is that? That's not a Mini." So it ends up crushed or in the river.
