Special hornet build?
Hi guys can anyone tell me if there were any sports type models of the hornet made? My 1964 Hornet has twin carbs on a 998 engine, my guess is someone has put them on at some point in the last 50 years. However I know with the mini they made a sports 850 which had a few different specs so just curious if any special models were released.
My rear badge just says hornet too, no mk badge and no holes to suggest there was ever anythjng else attached to the boot lid.
Thanks

Re: Special hornet build?
Ok seems hydro was introduced in October 64 so mine must be an early 64 build.

Dual carbs not factory.
Boot lid holes would have been there once upon a time.
Elf/Hornet followed the dry to wet dates so your '64 is likely correct as dry.

Most likely the carbs were fitted by a previous owner. There are a few specials out there that have had performance conversions. Would need to know more about the car. A 1964 car would be a MkII and have a 998 engine with a MkII badge on the bootlid. If there is no MkII badge either the car is a MKI or lid is MkI or badge has been removed. I know of a 1962 MKI Hornet that wasn't registered until 1964.
