Does anyone know where I can get the insulation/sound deadening for the firewall in the engine bay?

Minispares stock those, I bought one from there. I'd guess most other Mini suppliers do it too. I realise you're in the US, so try the online suppliers over there. If nobody has them I'm sure we can find a way to help you out!
